How to Get Your PADI Advanced Open Water Certification in Roatan, Honduras

If you are an avid scuba diver who wants to take your skills and experience to the next level, you may consider getting your PADI Advanced Open Water certification. This certification allows you to explore deeper dive sites, improve your buoyancy and navigation, and learn new specialties, such as night diving, wreck diving, or underwater photography. Here are some steps to follow if you want to get your PADI Advanced Open Water certification in Roatan:

Step 1: Choose a PADI-Certified Dive Center

 The first step is to choose a PADI-certified dive center that offers the Advanced Open Water course. Step 2: Meet the Prerequisites

 The second step is to meet the prerequisites for the Advanced Open Water course. You must be at least 15 years old (or 12 years old for Junior Advanced Open Water), have a PADI Open Water certification (or equivalent), be in good health and physical condition, and have some diving experience (at least 5 dives). You may also need to complete some paperwork and medical forms before starting the course.

Step 3: Complete the E-Learning or Classroom Sessions

In the third step, you can choose to either complete your classroom portion via e-learning before you arrive in Roatan or take your classes here with us at octopus Dive School. This will teach you the theory and skills required for the course, such as deep diving, underwater navigation, buoyancy control, and other specialties.

Step 4: Complete the Open Water Dives

The fourth step is to complete the open water dives of the Advanced Open Water Dives. The PADI Advanced Open Water certification course includes five adventure dives that will help you build confidence and expand your scuba skills. Typically, this course takes a minimum of two days and five dives. The course is designed to help you refine your skills as a diver and teach you new skills.

During the course, you will complete two required dives: Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation. You will also complete three additional dives that you can choose from a list of adventure dives such as Night Dive, Wreck Dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and many more.
