"We just recently went to Roatan for our first time. Our older 3 kids got PADI certified and my husband and I dove. It was an amazing experience for all of us. They were so great with our kids and with the two of us and our friends. Wonderfully accommodating and great with communication. I cannot recommend them enough. I am hoping to come back when my two younger kids are old enough to dive!"

We have big lockers that will fit your bag, towel, clothes and any valuable items you carried with you for the day. When you are not using it, any dive gear you brought with you on vacation can be stored in our locked personal equipment room.
At Octopus, you’ll find coffee ready when you arrive, and we offer fresh fruit between morning dives. There’s also a good selection of restaurants nearby. Purified drinking water is always available. We have a hot shower, private changing area and nice clean restrooms. We also have a kitchen area with fridge, sandwich maker and microwave where you can store your drinks, snacks, and prepare lunches etc.
There is a beautiful shaded seating area on our private dock to relax on and marine life identification books you can use. Our dive boat is fast, spacious and can get you to some of the top sites in Roatan in minutes.
When you check in, we kit you out with any rental equipment you need. We then take note of it and any gear you brought with you and put it away in our designated area if you are not diving that day. From then on you will find your BCD and regulator set up on a tank for you on our boat every time you arrive to go diving.
When we return from another great dive on Roatan, our crew will carry the tanks and gear back to the shop, rinse and dry them. At the end of the day, we store everything securely for you in our equipment room. The next day you’ll find every set up ready and waiting for you again!
It’s so much better to go on a dive with just a few other divers. That’s why we limit our groups to six per experienced dive guide (all of whom are all highly qualified PADI instructors). We want you to be able to see what we point out to you. We also want to be able to give you lots of attention during each dive! We prefer to split groups according to diver experience so everyone gets to do their most enjoyable dive possible.
We go diving every day at Octopus Dive School. We normally go out on at least three one tank trips each day, however we sometimes we add in an extra dive at dawn, in the afternoon or at night if our divers request it. We also arrange special two tank trips to some of the most popular dive sites on Roatan.
We generally aim for a maximum of 60 minutes on each dive, however we can take individual divers to the surface to re-board the boat a little earlier if need be. We can be flexible with our departure times if you are here for the day on a cruise ship and want to go diving in Roatan, just let us know your schedule and we will do our best to accommodate your group. Read on to find out about the best dive times for you and our Roatan diving schedule.
This dive is popular with advanced divers who want to visit the deeper part of Roatan’s reef, but it is open to everyone. We can always split the group so some can stay shallower.
Mid-morning is great for photography as we get the best light at this time. It’s also an ideal second dive if you prefer to keep your afternoon free for other activities on Roatan.
The afternoon is when most fish on Roatan spawn, so this is when you’ll get to see the biggest schools of them off the wall. Also a great time of day to explore the shallow reef.
Aside from our regular schedule, we offer lots of special trips for adventurous divers who want to do something different. Let us know what interests you?
We ask that divers arrive 30 minutes prior to each dive in order to get their wet suits on, listen to our informative dive briefing and double check that their dive gear is set up how they like it on board the boat.
If at all possible, it is best to pop in the day before your first dive to meet our team and get a guided tour of our dive operation in Roatan. However, if you are checking in with us and diving the same day, we ask that you arrive 45 minutes before the dive so we can show you around, check your certification, set up equipment and complete paperwork.

We have an impeccable safety record and we strictly follow all PADI guidelines for safe diving practices. This means you will always receive a thorough briefing prior to each dive you do with us. To keep everyone safe we ask that you refresh your skills a little before heading out on your first dive with us, especially if you haven’t logged many dives yet. Our easy refresher program takes just a couple of hours and is guaranteed to improve your confidence and diving techniques in the water.
First of all your instructor will help review your knowledge about the important safety considerations we all have to be aware of while diving. Then you will practice putting together and checking your dive equipment.
After a briefing about what you are going to do, you will go out into the shallow water just off the beach to practice the most essential diving skills with your instructor. This will include: how to do a buddy check, how inflate and deflate your BCD, clear your mask, recover your regulator, share air with another diver and how to control your buoyancy effectively on the surface and underwater.

Initially, your will need to refresh your knowledge about diving. You can either do that online via PADI’s E-Learning system or stop by our dive center to collect a short instructional manual to read before you begin. The day of your course, your instructor will help review your knowledge and discuss with you the dive skills you would most like to focus on reviewing. You will practice putting together and checking your dive equipment and get a detailed briefing about the skills you need to brush up on.
Following this you will go out into the shallow water by our private beach to practice those skills with your instructor. Once you’ve gained confidence using your dive equipment again, you will head out for a nice easy dive on the reef.
