After five long months of quarantine, Roatan has finally opened its borders for international and domestic flights.

Our reef has taken a long rest and we are all ready to go back diving with you!

Following guidelines dictated by the Government of Honduras, and the recommendations of PADI and DAN (Divers Alert Network) we have developed a Bio Security Protocol for diving during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Octopus Dive School team has been trained in all procedures and guidelines and will be following the protocols of handwashing and mask-wearing.

Every day, early in the morning, our Bio-Security Supervisor will direct the team in the sanitizing of the dive shop and boat. All surfaces will be sanitized including tables, counters, benches, lockers, doors knobs, bathrooms, changing rooms, shower, and so on …

At the moment in Honduras, all businesses must have a BSS (Biosecurity Supervisor), take temperature upon arrival, and provide hand sanitizer.

We will take your temperature upon arrival to the dive shop and give you some sanitizer, please stay at home and let us know if you or anyone you have been in contact with have any symptoms of COVID-19.

We ask you to wash your hands, and use the hand sanitizer that is strategically placed all over our shop.

We will take care of your gear.

We will set it up on the boat, take it back and forth to the dive shop, we have been put new procedures to sanitize private and rental gear, and by the end of the day, it will be stored individually, labeled with your name and completely disinfected and ready for your next dive.

Our equipment room, private and rental gear is now only available for access by Octopus staff to maintain proper gear distancing.

Bring your own gear if you have it, at least your mask and regulator, we recommend you take it back to your room overnight but if you prefer to leave it with us we will secure it with the rest of your gear.

Our team will take your gear to the boat and set it up.

Divers should check their own equipment while on the boat and make sure everything is aboard.

Our boat will operate with 50 % capacity to allow for social distancing, and will be sanitized every day, before and after the dives.

Remember that your regulator and especially your mask could be a source of contamination, keep your mask with you, or secured to your gear kit.

After the dive, we will bring your gear back to the shop and sanitize everything and store it safely away.

Please don’t leave any personal items on your lockers overnight to facilitate sanitizing.

Scientific studies have determined that the chances of becoming infected with COVID-19 via airborne contamination while scuba diving is literally ZERO, so it is our happy place and our safest place as well now, let us go diving !!

While we understand that it can be difficult to wear masks while on a boat and preparing/returning from diving, we do encourage guests to wear masks when possible in group conditions as well as maintain distance from others. The choice is the personal decision of our guests, we just ask to be respectful of others.

Octopus staff is required to wear masks around guests and co-workers.

Please review the following diving recommendations below from PADI on how to reduce the spread of COVID-19:
